WVUSD: 2019/2020 Year-End Results Preface Over the past seven years, following a thorough data gathering process, the Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and staff have established clear areas of focus for the District, which advance educational excellence and increase opportunities for all students. In turn, Cabinet and staff have been charged with the responsibility of further developing and implementing these areas of focus through specific goals and objectives, as well as reporting the progress made in reaching these goals at our annual Year-End Review. During the past year (and for the seventh consecutive year), the Walnut Valley Unified School District concentrated on four areas of focus. Two years ago, a fifth area of focus was added. All focus areas directly and positively influence our overarching Mission … “KIDS FIRST – Every Student, Every Day.” Each focus area is listed below with the corresponding goal for easy reference. • Student Achievement – Ensure all students are College and Career Ready by providing rigorous, engaging, and innovative preschool through 12 th grade teaching and learning experiences. • Strengthening Relationships – Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships based upon trust, respect, communication, and collaboration among colleagues, students, parents, and community members. • Fiscal Stability – Support generations to come by building and renovating facilities that support best practices for teaching and learning, inspiring our students to achieve their educational goals, and exceeding our communities’ expectations for superior business services. In light of increasing financial uncertainty, we must ensure our ability to deliver efficient, responsive, and capable services to our students and staff for years to come. • Leadership Development – Develop and expand leadership capacity throughout and at all levels of the organization. • Safety and Wellness – Strengthen the physical safety, social awareness, and emotional wellness of all Walnut Valley students, staff, and community members. The following WVUSD 2019/2020 Year-End Results publication reflects the diligent efforts of staff to provide a status report to the Board of Trustees and community on the District’s continual efforts to meet the goals and accompanying objectives in each of the areas of focus. Compliments to the Board of Trustees and all Leadership Team members for their input, reflections, and assessment of this past year. The report includes a brief introduction, a detailed summary focused on each of the goals, supporting objectives, and recommendations for future focus. Commendations to our Leadership Team for both its contributions and participation in a very successful school year. Cabinet, division directors, and site administrators would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Board of Trustees for its guidance, collaboration, and support. We believe that through the Board’s leadership we have, once again, crafted a sound monitoring practice designed to provide a clear direction and mutual vision for the future of the Walnut Valley Unified School District. 2
