New in Old Town for 2018
Lisa Laird w/ Pockets Full of Fun: Old Town welcomes Lisa Laird of
Pockets Full of Fun for the 2018 Fair. Lisa is a professional puppeteer and
ventriloquist who comes to us from Orange City, IA. Lisa has a passion
for inspiring young children through creativity and imagination. Her
programs entertain, encourage and educate children of all ages. Lisa will
join us for shows on Friday (Aug. 3rd) & Saturday (Aug. 4th). She will
follow each show with a 30 minute puppet making activity for children to
take home.
The Science Center of Iowa Presents: BOOM! The Science Center of
Iowa is coming to Old Town and bring their hair-raising experiments and
electrifying explosions with them! Their programs support the Iowa Core,
national Science Standards and are accurate, relevant and fun! Their
program BOOM! will explore the interactions of pressure, temperature
and states of matter to explain why things pop, bang or blow up.
Experiment with ultra-cold liquid nitrogen and combustible gases in this
spectacular assembly. SCI will hold 2 shows a day on Wed. (Aug. 1st) and
Thurs. (Aug. 2nd). They will also be available with their walk-up science
experiment booth following each show.
My Dolly & Me Fashion Show: Old Town will host a My Dolly & Me
Fashion Show on Friday, August 3rd. Bring your favorite dolly, pick your
favorite outfits and join the show. All welcome.
The Moville Towne Players: The Moville Towne Players will visit Old
Town to perform an Old Fashioned Melodrama with shows on Friday
(Aug. 3rd) thru Sunday (Aug. 5th). More details to follow……
Ag in the Classroom: Ag in the classroom will be with us on Saturday
(Aug. 4th) to talk to our future farmers with an educational presentation
detailing "The Many Hats of an Iowa Farmer."
Net or Wet Basketball Shoot-out Returns: Grab a partner and come on
out for some old fashioned fun. Lets shoot some hoops! Old Town will be
hosting the "Net or Wet Shoot-out" again on Sunday, August 5th
beginning at 12:30 p.m. This will be a double elimination tournament.
Two teams of two will shoot against each other. One player on each team
will be the shooter while the other player patiently awaits his or her fate
setting beneath the water bucket lingering overhead. The team to make
their basket first will win the bracket and stay dry -- at the same time the
basket will trip the opposing teams bucket causing one of the opponents
players to get soaked and in turn move them into the losers bracket.
Tournament is open to all ages with no age division of play. Partners can
