Gone Fishing

“ Fish too much ? Can ’ t be done .”

— Ernest Hemingway
Avid fishermen , and those who only occasionally dangle their hooks in the water , will agree that the waters of East Tennessee offer some of the finest fishing in the country . Anglers will find outstanding fishing opportunities in Great Smoky Mountains National Park , as well as the Little Pigeon River and at Douglas Lake , located just a few miles northeast of Pigeon Forge .
A valid Tennessee Fishing License is required , wherever you choose to drop your line , if you attempt to take fish ( including crayfish ) by any method or if you assist anyone else to do so . Fishing licenses are available for purchase at the businesses listed on this page .
