MOVING FORWARD
NPW 2018 ushered in unprecedented levels of national and community engagement
across the country. The focus this year shifted from a finite, week-long observance to
a movement that promotes prevention year-round, and organizations quickly followed
suit by using NPW tools, resources, publications, webinars, and materials throughout
the year—all while sharing their important, local stories with SAMHSA.
As we plan for NPW 2019, sharing the importance of the prevention of mental and/
or substance use disorders will continue to be a year-round focus. SAMHSA will
strengthen NPW prevention tools and resources all year to make sure every community
has what they need to take actions today to ensure a healthy tomorrow, and has the
invitation to give SAMHSA feedback on the range of NPW efforts.
Keep visiting samhsa.gov/prevention-week as we share updates and additional
resources, while learning how you can get involved in NPW 2019. And don’t forget to
share your NPW events and activities with us—no matter when they take place.
