venture for us. Little Kings Black
Velvet was another horse we were
lucky enough to buy who was an
invaluable asset to our program. I was
on the road with the dogs and Jon
reminded me that there was a Miniature
horse sale coming up in Pennsylvania.
I purchased Velvet as a yearling, along
with his dam, from a young girl who
bought the mare in foal from Little
King Farm. When I told Jon that I
bought another stallion, he went into
orbit as I had brought home more
stallions than he thought we needed.
But I assured him when he saw the colt
he would love him. And he did!

What is the future for
Lucky Four Farms?
Miniatures were Jon’s idea and to be honest, I
probably would never have owned one had he
not kept insisting. I’m happy I gave in as it’s been
a great experience for Jon and I since 1984. We
have just dispersed all of our horses and will no
longer breed Miniatures, but they will always have
a very special meaning for us.
