Attention All Veterans
It has been 73 years since the end of World War II. This monumental and valiant effort to end the terror of
Adolf Hitler and the spread of communism around the globe consumed our country from 1939 until 1945.
Everyone helped with the war. Women entered the work force while their husbands enlisted in the armies.
Skirts were shortened so all available material could be used for uniforms and bandages. Victory gardens
were planted so all canned food could be sent overseas. Even Hollywood stars contributed by making
personal appearances to sell war bonds. It was truly a joint effort by the citizens of our great country, whether
serving in uniform or on the home front.
We are compiling stories from our members who served in this war. Would you please take some time to
recount your story? We want to hear your memories, whether they are memories from overseas or taking a
turn on the dance floor at the USO. You can send by email or by a letter. If it would be easier for you to tell
your story and let us take notes, we will be glad to help you with that. A bonus for us would be any pictures
that you would be willing to share.
This special edition will be in our September newsletter, but we would appreciate you starting on this project
now in order for us to have it complete by the end of July for editing purposes. This project is very special
to us. We want the history of members to be told to our younger members so they will know and be able to
tell these stories to future generations.
