SCANNING & OPTIMISATION – MICROTEC
to introduce Russian larch to our
transverse scanning portfolio.”
states Microtec CEO Federico
Giudiceandrea. Besides larch, Ugra
Timber produces pine, spruce and
cedar, all optimized by Goldeneye.
The modular scanner consists
of one-meter-modules and is
extendible up to eight meters
board length.
Ugra Timber scans approx. 100
boards each minute, while the
scanners could run at double speed
of max 200 lugs per minute.
An especially slim conveyor
system developed together with
Springer, makes sure cameras
capture a complete board image
from all four sides. Since boards
do not need to be turned, the
scanner only requires a single scan
frame width and can be placed
in an existing grading station or
transverse chain section with
minimal modification.
“One of the main benefits of our
scanners is that they are modular
systems that can be integrated
very quickly into existing lines.
Downtime is kept to a minimum.”
explains Giudiceandrea.
In front of the Goldeneye
scanner an inline moisture meter
M 3 Scan determines the board’s
moisture to check if the degree
of moisture content is within the
thresholds for transversal feeding.
A second scanner box in front of
the Goldeneye 900 determines
lumber thickness to adjust
Goldeneye cameras according to
variing board hights.
Ugra Timber once again laid
their trust into Microtec scanner
products to increase quality and
efficiency. “We see our further
development in, first of all,
maximum efficient use of wood
resources of the region and
creation of integrated production
facilities for manufacturing of wood
products with high added value.”
states Ugra Timber CEO Yurij
Gennadevich Kraev, “This is why
we invest in cutting-edge scanning
and optimization technology to
get the best out of our wood.
