Girls Second XI Football
Coached by Mr Barnes, and captained by Olivia Wolland,
the girls second xi almost had the perfect season. They went
unbeaten in the Hawkes Bay second division and therefore
won the title. It was not easy as it sounds however, as the
girls drew a number of winnable games and had to rely on
Woodford House 2nds defeating Napier Girls 2nds in the
final round of the season to confirm the shield. The majority
of the side also represented Havelock North High School
in the Central Six tournament, which they also won. Mr
Barnes was blessed with a dedicated and intelligent squad
this year, who trained hard and played even harder. Of the
many fine players, Keira Laurie and Georgia Albertini stood
out for the leadership, Sophie Borrett excelled in defence,
Natalya Nicholson and France Ebbett-Watt were flawless in
goal, and Rosemary Yorke, Zara Tissies, Lara Watson and
Lorena… were thrilling in attack.
