It ’ s back to school time !
I can just see you all busily preparing for another year of arts , learning , creativity and theater making now .

In our Summer / Early fall edition we celebrate the return to school in “ The Journey ‘ Back-To-School ,’” a Board Perspective by Board Chair Stacey Ardelean . We also look at some big picture work being done in the arts education field in “ Teaching Teachers to Teach : The Arts Integration Framework ” by Daniel Klein and “ The Hustle — Economic Sustainability in the Arts Education Field ” by Scott Austin , Heleya de Barros , and myself . Jay Gerlach shares tips using theater to explore timely topics , such as privilege , in “ Relevant Learning is Crucial to Student Success .”
Two of our members reflect on doing theater education and performance work outside their own communities “ Mi Experiencia Con Artistas en Puebla ,” by Sobha Kavanakudiyil and “ On The Road Again ” by Pat Haines . Angela Watson also discusses another way the arts can be used to help broaden a student ’ s perspective ; sharing the research University of Arkansas ’ Department of Education Reform has done on arts field trips in “ Greene Grows the Arts Research in Arkansas .”
