VISITORS, STAFF, VOLUNTEERS >>>>>>>> Prominent first-time VIP visitors this year included Israel Prison officials, Israel’s State Attorney, Jim Lester (journalist-turned-novelist on having a child with autism), Israel Supreme Court Justices, Chairman of the Jewish National Fund, the renowned UK Shabbaton Choir [a special event planned to mark Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month (JDAIM)], Ad Verheul [renowned co-founder of the world-famous Snoezelen multi-sensory therapy system], and a number of Knesset members, including MK Yehuda Glick. > International and Local Volunteers: This year 126 volunteers from around the world [Australia, China, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Japan, Mexico, Moldova, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Poland, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, UK, USA] spent weeks and months of their time at ALEH, offering a helping hand in a variety of areas. Despite language barriers, overseas volunteers have forged amazing bonds with the residents, communicating with them on a deep, often non-verbal, level.
