> During the course of 2018, ALEH residents joined a series of community marches, providing them with an opportunity to transcend their disabilities and feel just like everyone else. Jerusalem Marathon: Team ALEH had participants in every race –young men and women on gap year programs, police officers and firefighters, doctors and nurses from Hadassah Medical Center, and top lawyers from renowned firms. In addition, 50 ALEH ‘runners’ took part in the 500-meter community track, after months of training, with the moral and physical support of police officers who used specialized walkers and walking harnesses to lead them to the finish line. March of the Living: This year, in honor of Israel’s 70th anniversary, 5,000 members of March of Life came to Israel to march in the streets of Jerusalem, together with ALEH’s residents and hundreds of others who joined the March of the Living in the country’s capital. At the concluding event the organization honored Major General (res.) Doron Almog – Founder and Chairman of the ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village – with a special award for his activity on behalf of people with special needs and empowering society at large.
