REHABILITATIVE TECHNOLOGY >>>>>>>> > > ROBOTIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM: In 2018, ALEH’s special education school in Gedera transformed its robotics class into an art program that makes painting accessible to its students with severe complex disabilities. For students for whom hand-eye coordination skills are exceedingly difficult to acquire and the manipulation of a paintbrush is an insurmountable task, this has been a real breakthrough. Spherical robots are dipped in washable paint and placed on the canvas. The students then use the iPad to control the spheres, creating lines, shapes and beautiful designs with every continuous finger stroke on the touch screen. iPad PROGRAM: ALEH’s staff uses iPads as technological tools, aiding them to access residents’ inner world, gain a better understanding of their desires, and allow residents to express needs and preferences in instances in which verbal communication is lacking.
