> “COMMUNITY FLOOR”: Renovations on the entire ground floor of ALEH Jerusalem began in
2018, to expand the scope of therapeutic care and early education offered to children with
special needs from the community. The new “community floor”, with an improved, modern
child development clinic equipped with a wide variety of quality therapy equipment, will also
double the capacity of the rehabilitation daycare center unit. An outdoor courtyard playground,
accessible from each classroom, will provide children the opportunity to enjoy nature and
outdoors on a daily basis.
> ALEH SECURES GOVERNMENT BACKING TO ESTABLISH INCLUSIVE TOWN IN ISRAEL’S SOUTH: In
September, ALEH announced that it had joined forces with Israel’s Ministry of Construction and
Housing and the Merhavim Regional Council to develop a new inclusive town in southern Israel
named “Daniel” that will help solve the country’s housing crisis, while simultaneously creating
employment opportunities and enhancing Israel’s disability and rehabilitative care offerings.
Slated for construction adjacent to ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran, Daniel will integrate residents
with severe complex disabilities as part of the communal fabric and provide housing for the
medical professionals who will find employment at the ALEH’s future Neuro-Orthopedic
Rehabilitation Hospital. Upon completion, Daniel will boast 500 housing units, including at least
10% of whom will be individuals with disabilities and special needs.
