Welcome to the 71st Annual Texas Package Stores Association Convention & Trade Show! On behalf of the
Executive Committee, Board of Directors and our members, we welcome you to Houston.
What a year it has been for TPSA! This past year brought many changes, challenges and opportunities to the alco-
hol beverage industry. Since we met in Fort Worth a year ago, we have witnessed a threat posed by big box chains,
continued industry change and controversy surrounding the three-tier system. That is why it is so important that
you are here in Houston to engage in face-to-face discussions with other retailers and members of the industry.
Despite all of the change and challenge, Texas’ 2,500 licensed retailers have a great story to tell. Our industry is
rooted in local communities across the state - providing quality jobs to hundreds of hardworking men and women.
And, unlike consumers in other states, Texans do not have to worry about the safety of their alcohol because of
the transparency and accountability provided by the state-regulated three-tier system. This summer and through-
out the year, TPSA’s lobby team have been educating legislators, staff, and other interested parties about the
importance of state-based alcohol regulation and the role of TPSA. While we have a lot of work to do, the current
system of alcohol regulation creates a level playing field that promotes safe and responsible delivery of beverage
alcohol.
In all of my years attending TPSA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show, I cannot remember a year when I was more
excited to attend than this year! TPSA is thrilled to bring you a dynamic program packed with an all-star line-up
of industry experts, educational meetings, and a trade show filled with hundreds of exhibitors, product launches
and new services to assist you in your business. This year, we are providing even more value for retailers to learn
from industry leaders what it takes to succeed in today’s market. To complete the convention’s full experience,
you will want to make sure to attend the 5th Annual Cork Pull Monday evening. The annual TPSA Convention &
Trade Show defines everything this industry is about - innovation, networking, hard work, and the importance of
small business.
I want to thank the many wholesalers, suppliers and representatives who support TPSA as an Associate Member
and as hosts of various convention functions. Much of our success is due to their continued support.
Again, welcome to the 71st Annual TPSA Convention & Trade Show. We look forward to creating new
relationships, strengthening existing ties and recognizing individuals who have contributed to our success.
