The UCR Program collects statistics on the number of offenses known to law enforcement. In the traditional Summary Reporting System (SRS), there are eight
crimes, or Part I offenses, (murder and non-negligent homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, larceny-theft, and
arson) to be reported to the UCR Program. The Fayetteville Police Department implemented the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) in
November 2018. NIBRS is an incident-based reporting system used by law enforcement agencies in the United States for collecting and reporting data on
crimes. Local, state and federal agencies generate NIBRS data from their records management systems. The crimes statistics for 2018 are preliminary.
