POLICE CITIZEN ACADEMY
One of the goals of the Fayetteville Police Department is community involvement; by establishing trust and correspondence with the community, we can work together with them to eliminate fear and incidence of crime, and improve the quality of life within the Fayetteville area. Community policing is one of the most important aspects of the department’s relationship with the community; in areas where a community watch is strong, the crime rates are statistically lower.
In an effort to further these connections between the Fayetteville Police Department and the local community, the department hosted the Citizen’s Police Academy. This nine week program, is aimed to provide citizens with a comprehensive curriculum of the operations of the Fayetteville Police Department. With this information, members of the community were able to build a stronger relationship with their local law enforcement agency. The program was held every Tuesday night for two hours.
Instructors are drawn from all areas in the Department. Students meet the Chief of Police, managers, supervisors, patrol officers, detectives, dispatchers, and other department employees. We encourage students to ask questions and express their concerns about pertinent issues. A major goal of the Citizens' Police Academy is to increase understanding between our citizens and the Police Department, and to enhance the strong relationships we have with the community...
