Family fun for ages 4 and up! Prior to each concert, join us in the lobby starting at 9:45 am
for a range of exciting, interactive and educational music adventures. Activities may
include arts and crafts, an instrument petting zoo, performances by BSYO and
OrchKids, face painting and more!
Join us immediately following each family concert for a buffet lunch in the Meyerhoff

A SWINGIN’ NUTCRACKER!
Show-stopping hip-hop dancers join the BSO for this fun-filled holiday
concert. Riffing off of Duke Ellington’s reimagining of Tchaikovsky’s
masterpiece, jazz composer Paul Murtha has created a Swingin’ Nutcracker
that the whole family will love!

PETER AND THE WOLF
The BSO musicians must outwit a fearsome wolf that threatens orchestra
and audience alike. The concert hall becomes the dramatic setting and
musicians become the characters as Prokofiev’s exhilarating musical tale
springs to life, putting kids on the edge of their seats.

YOUNG PERSON’S GUIDE
TO THE ORCHESTRA
Take a musical journey around the orchestra and learn about the different
instrument sounds, from the distinctive trumpets in the William Tell
Overture to the beautiful melodies in Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings.
Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra shines the spotlight on
the instruments of the orchestra, enhanced by illustrations created during
the performance.
