Please pack a lunch to bring to camp. Snacks and drinks provided. Learn the basics of successful hiking and backpacking from seasoned outdoor educators. After the indoor workshop you’ll have lunch and then prepare to “head for the hills” in Hiking 102. You’ll join experienced hikers for a trek on the Paul Bunyan Trail at Camp Hoffman. Test your skills at navigation and preparedness, and critical thinking on the trail. Are you a wizard at Dutch oven cooking? Does your troop make the most delicious culinary creations in all of the council? Do you have no idea what a Dutch oven is, but love cooking in general? If any or all of the above apply to you then join us for a cooking throwdown camp style. Participants will first learn about safe food prep and the art of cooking with a Dutch oven. Then it will be competition time. Come alone or as a troop to show off your camp cooking prowess. Learn about some of the daily activities of a zookeeper and even meet an animal they work with. Enjoy interactive animal themed activities, Science on a Sphere ® , and a nighttime tour of the Zoo while working towards achieving your Pets and Animal Helpers badges (badges not included).
