• generate additional revenue for Government; and
• enhance administration and compliance in respect of
our major taxes.
I will then present an assessment of fiscal
prospects for the 2018/19 fiscal year and the next two fiscal
years. That will bring me to a discussion of how those
prospects square with the mandated objectives for the fiscal
balance that we must absolutely meet over the next three
years.
To set the context for that discussion, I will
begin with a brief review of the global economic
environment and the state of, and prospects for, the
Bahamian economy.
