within the Ministry in the form of a Deputy Financial
Secretary
with
responsibility
for
strengthening
the
operational capacity of the Ministry and a Deputy Financial
Secretary in charge of economic and fiscal policy matters.
The latter position is under recruitment and expected to be
filled shortly. The Ministry will also undertake an internal
restructuring
and
will
recruit
additional
Bahamian
professionals so as to ensure that the agency is equipped to
provide its optimal level of fiscal, economic and budgetary
management and support.
The Ministry of Finance is also pursuing the
implementation and successful completion of the $33
million IDB-financed Public Financial Management and
Performance Monitoring Reform project that had been
floundering up until last year and producing meager tangible
results.
