2017 Village of Glenview Comprehensive Plan glenview_comp_plan_2017_03_29_sm | Page 52
Goals
As change occurs, the comprehensive plan becomes a valuable tool to ensure that Glenview can maintain
its common values. To safeguard Glenview’s future land use mix and continue to embody the Vision
described in this Comprehensive Plan, proposals for any development will need to justify its request by
demonstrating conformance with this comprehensive plan, meeting the requirements of the Village’s
ordinances, and illustrating how the proposed development will supplement and/or raise the quality of
life in Glenview. Following is a list of Goals to support the implementation of this chapter.

Significant natural, historic, cultural sites and resources are
protected from encroachment of non-compatible land uses.
LU-1.1 LU-1.2
Where redevelopment is proposed, applicants
should identify any items that may have natural
or cultural significance. Site design transitions between types of land
uses adjacent to natural, historic, and cultural
resources shall be orderly and efficient through
the use of buffers such as increased setbacks,
open space, conservation easements, and/or
landscaping buffers.
LU-1.3 LU-1.4
Architectural design adjacent to natural, historic,
or cultural sites shall be respectful and in
harmony to the existing sites. Development should be minimized in areas prone
to flooding and be designed to mitigate negative
existing conditions and lessen development
impacts while enhancing natural areas.
