The ‘Jackman Bear’ statue and fountain is a Glenview landmark donated to the
Village in 1917 by resident Ed Jackman, a naturalist who wanted to celebrate his love
of animals and children. The bear has become the symbol of Glenview, along with the
Village’s “Hug the Bear” campaign, encouraging residents to “hug” the community.
