Northern Idaho Black Bear Hunt # 14 This hunt takes place in the northern part of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness area . Comfortable tent camp , home cooked meals . 4x4 and horseback transportation . Hunting method is over baits , or spot and stalk . Excellent area for colored phase bears . Nearest airport is Missoula , Montana . A two bear area . Excellent outfitters . These are mountain bears , which tend to be rangier than some of the swamp dwellers we harvest up in Canada . These are spring hunts , in late May through mid-June or Fall hunts in early September .
