Things to Do, Places to Visit Explore our Unique History Lone Tree Point Hopevale Memorial Cathedral in the Glen This replica of a chapel built by 11 American Baptist missionaries in the Philippines during WWII is a peaceful spot in the woods (located behind Kern Lodge parking lot). Lone Tree Point Venture out to this quiet spot behind Roger Williams Inn. It’s where our founder, Jessie Lawson, took refuge from a storm in 1888. She returned later to buy that land and 1,100 acres more to start Lone Tree Farm. Padelford Country Store Our quaint Country Store is famous for its penny candy: mini Tootsie ® Rolls in flavors of root beer, strawberry lemonade, green apple, blue raspberry, cherry, grape, fruit punch, strawberry, watermelon and chocolate. Located in the campground, the store also provides ice cream treats, camp supplies, firewood, and an inviting front porch where you can sit and relax while enjoying a sweet treat. (Open in summer.) 32 | Green Lake Conference Center Chapel Car Grace Beautifully restored Chapel Car Grace was used for missionary work in the west from 1914-46. Includes a church which seats 50 in oak pews, a pastor’s bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. Spurgeon Chapel This historic chapel, built in 1904 as a root cellar by the Lawsons, is perfect for quiet meditation and prayer. Troster Art Studios At Troster Art Studios, you can work on your own or get personal instruction in ceramics, china decorating, jewelry making (cutting and setting semi- precious gemstones or crafting jewelry with beads) and stained glass. (Open in summer.) Quiet Places Our abundance of inspirational places are ideal for meeting in small groups, contemplating retreat topics, and being alone and quiet within our 900 acres. Renew and energize yourself by walking the grounds, sitting by the lake, climbing our towers and visiting our other spaces. Judson Tower and Prayer Towers Climb 121 steps up Judson Tower for a breathtaking view of the lake and conference center. There are also five smaller towers throughout the grounds to explore. Judson Tower Memory Lane Enjoy beautiful views of Green Lake as you walk on Memory Lane from Roger Williams Inn to the Vesper Circle. Read the plaques of those connected with Green Lake who are honored and celebrated here. No Hurry Boat A battery powered boat built for Victor and Jessie Lawson in 1905. Only two others like it were built, one for Thomas Edison and one for a Russian Czar. Log House The oldest building on grounds, built in the mid 1800s, the Log House is preserved as a museum and welcomes summer visitors for touring, candle making, quilting, rug looming and stories.
