Ella is just one of the individuals that you will encounter in our community. This what a neighbor had to say about her:
I live down the way from Ella and her boy Lashaun. Ella is a sweet girl, she’s got so much potential. She doesn’t even realize it yet, but that old man of her’s, Sam is gonna be the death of her. It’s not right, not right at all. I said to her the other day,
He’s going to kill you if you stay.
She looked at me and said, I’ll die from missing him if I leave.
You see, this life that girl leads is a double edge sword
No matter which way the blade falls, she’s gonna bleed.
You see, she thinks this is her lot in life.
She said that nothing good ever comes down this girl’s wicked, wayward path.
Well, today is a new day!
Today Ella girds up her loins
Pulls up sinful stakes of low self-esteem and self- loathing.
Excuse the cliché’, but today is the first day of the rest of Ella’s life.
Today Ella starts leading her best life.
No more looking back, no side stepping into a waiting fist.
No more baby I won’t do it again.
No more falling for that sin.
