Adna

World.

(She approaches closer to center stage proudly)

And the cure to cancer is–

(They all run forward to place their hands on her mouth to silence her except Chinhua who turns to the audience)

Chinhua

See why progress is so slow, honey?

(The girls fan out as they began each holding a symbols of their existence)

Zia

(She holds up her hands which contain torn piece of music which she lets drop to the floor)

Think of the songs that will be never sung.

(She freezes staring at the dropped music as light goes out)

Adna

The truths that will never be spoken.

(Drops stones from her hand...freezes and lights out on her)

Chinhua

The many friends that were never born.

(She simply lights a cigarette. Freezes. Light out)

Noor

Think of the many women who will never be allowed to drive.

(She holds out a set of keys and begins to drop them, but hangs onto them. Instead, she throws them into the air and catches it with her, pauses for a moment, and then smiles to the audience)

...But come spring

(She smiles at the audience, turns and exits between her frozen counterparts).

(Lights out)
