Spanning a surface area of over 1 million acres, Lake of the Woods is the dominant
feature within this region. Think about a lake that has 14,522 islands and consider all the
fishing, boating, swimming or paddling that you can do. The communities of Kenora,
Sioux Narrows, Nestor Falls and Morson hug its shoreline and offer great jumping off
points for water-based activities, shopping and dining. Lake of the Woods drains in to
the mighty Winnipeg River System and includes the resort community of Minaki – a part
of Sunset Country with many fine lodges and resorts and spectacular fishing. Other
lakes in the region include Blindfold, Crow, Cygnet, Dogtooth, Hawk, Longbow, Richard
and Shoal Lake. There are also many fly-in outfitters in the area.
