How to Make a Difference one Project at a tiMe by Madison Buckwalter
The North Shore Spring Restoration project was my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. My volunteers and I took several weekends to clear, delineate, and beautify a trail leading to a natural spring in North Shore. This trail is a branch off of the Coldstream Beach trail. We cut down brambles and vines we came across. We also placed rocks along the bed of the creek to prevent further erosion. The once narrow path was made into a leisure trail.
A sign will be added shortly that talks about the multiple natural springs which feed into Lake Linganore, and provide the water. The sign will educate the community about what a spring is. This will provide a fun, educational trail for people to come and enjoy.
The trail will remain clean and accessible in the future, as the Trailblazers of Lake Linganore have agreed to add this to their cleanup list. This trail will hopefully be enjoyed by many for years to come.
