“ Basketball Hoops”
In many LLA Villages basketball hoops are a regular part of outdoor play for neighborhood children. Unfortunately basketball hoops can easily become an obstruction in the roadway and impede snow removal efforts during the winter months. They can also pose a danger to night time driving for individuals unfamiliar with our roads.
LLA requires that all basketball hoops are permitted through the Association Office. This permit process can be completed over the phone and is very beneficial to basketball hoop owners … and it’ s free! If your hoop gets stolen or ends up in an unauthorized location, we are able to identify the owner of the hoop and reconnect them with their lost property.
LLA has the right to remove any basketball hoop that is deemed to be in a dangerous location( ex: road intersections, blind site lines, impeding traffic, etc.). Should LLA put the Snow Emergency Plan into effect, all basketball hoops must be moved a minimum of 10 feet away from any adjacent street for the entire time that the Plan is in effect. Additionally, if a basketball hoop has not been moved and is struck by a snow plow, the contractor and LLA are not responsible for any property damage. LLA recommends pulling the hoops back for the winter season.
The Association strongly encourages residents to setup basketball hoops in their driveway. When a hoop is used in the driveway, children are out of the street and hoops are more easily stored when not in use.
