Established in February of 2014, “Up from the Earth” is a voluntary system
for connecting excess produce from home gardens to people in need. The
program encourages home gardeners to “grow an extra row” and
facilitates the gathering and distribution of excess fruits and veggies to
those in need through existing food pantries. In the last three seasons
combined, over 47, 0000 pounds or 141,000 servings of fresh, local fruits
and vegetables were provided to those in need.
