As part of the AARP and AARP Foundation Drive to End Hunger, AARP
Iowa is recruiting volunteers to help raise awareness of hunger in Iowa,
especially among older adults, and assist older Iowans in the application
process for the Iowa Food Assistance Program or Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP) formerly known as food stamps. The Drive to
End Hunger campaign is a multi-pronged effort by AARP and AARP
Foundation to not only raise awareness of the issue of food insecurity but
end hunger among older adults.

HOW TO HELP
Volunteers are needed across the state to assist in various ways. For
those interested in assisting with applications for Iowa Food Assistance,
one day of training on the computer application is required. For those
interested in helping raise awareness of hunger and senior nutrition,
volunteers are needed for a speakers bureau to make presentations to
organizations and groups in their home areas. Speakers bureau volunteers
receive skills training and scheduling assistance.
