Life at the
Crossroads
by Victoria Cochrane
A
re you at a
crossroad point
in your life right
now? The arrival
at a crossroads can be
messy. A relationship
might be in tatters, your
world could be in a
general state of upheaval
or the past may have
reared its head forcing
you to face people,
memories or situations
you thought were behind
you. Whatever brings
us to a crossroads can
be confusing, upsetting
and disorientating. Some
people come to me feeling
so demoralised they feel
like giving up.
Being at a crossroads
generally means we need
to be careful about the
decisions we make as they
will determine the direction
our life will take from here.
To move forward into our
soul’s higher purpose, we
must first detach from the
past and shed anything, or
anyone, that is no longer
serving us. This is not so
44
straightforward. It is not easy
to let go of something or
someone we love, even if
we know they are draining or
even breaking us. However,
the energies of domestic
violence, hatred, jealousy,
possessiveness and self-
centredness cannot remain
in our lives (whether it comes
from within ourselves or from
another) if we are to move
into a state of oneness,
peace and harmony and fulfil
our highest destiny.
As confronting as a
crossroads event is, it can
actually be a blessing. It can
be an opportunity to embrace
the changes required to take
charge of the next chapter
of your life. If you feel out
of control, take control! If
someone has taken away
your power, take it back!
Be completely honest with
yourself. Lay everything on
the table and ask yourself
what you really want? Where
are you heading? Where
would you like to be in five
years? Do you love or even
like yourself? What are you
not facing up to?
When we are at a
crossroads, it is time to be
brave and face our fears,
to accept the challenge,
embrace the need for change
and let go of anything that
is holding us back. This can
be scary, confronting and
overwhelming, but it is also
extremely liberating!
Letting go means forgiving
the people who have hurt
you. You may have felt
justified in holding onto
hatred, anger or resentment,
but the only person these
feelings hurt is yourself. The
past is gone and cannot
be changed, but you are
in the driver’s seat of your
future. What you create is
totally up to the thoughts
you think and the decisions
you make. Angry, negative
thoughts create actions with
destructive consequences,
whether they be on a
physical, emotional, mental
or spiritual level. Changing
your thoughts in a positive
way will immediately change
your reality, because the
words you speak, the
decisions you make and the
actions you take will have a
higher vibration and a much
friendlier impact on the world
around you. Forgiveness
releases the dark, negative
emotions and lets the light in!
If you are at a crossroads,
you are there for good
reason. As challenging as it
may be, it is your doorway to
a happier future. Take your
time to reflect on why you
are there and choose wisely!
You don’t want to miss this
chance to change your life
for the better!
