Delta Computer Systems’ Plot Manager supports application verification and tuning by displaying actual and target axis parameters versus time
pressure/force/torque as well as
position/velocity/acceleration.
The controller’s modular design
accepts I/O modules that provide
direct interfaces to pressure and
linear or rotary position sensors
and proportional servo valves, so
precise positioning, velocities,
accelerations and applied forces
can be achieved.
Digital I/O and hi-speed pulse
interface options are also available,
enabling the motion controller
to interrogate machine status
information and control processing
line-related functionality beyond
the motion axes. The RMC200 also
supports two built-in EtherNet/
IP interfaces for passing info and
commands to/from PLCs, scanner/
optimizers and operator interfaces.
“We developed the RMC200 to
deliver the capabilities and ease-
of-use of our motion controllers to
customers that increasingly need
more axes than we have offered
in one controller in the past,” said
Steve Nylund, Delta Computer
Systems CEO.
“The new RMC200 removes
the 8-axis limit of our multi-axis
RMC150 controller plus provides
ample processing power for future
application needs.”
All members of Delta’s
family of controllers use field-
proven RMCTools software for
setup, tuning, programming and
diagnostics. The software, provided
free and downloadable from Delta’s
website (www.deltamotion.com),
includes the Plot Manager (See
Figure 2) for display of actual
versus target axis parameters
versus time, and multiple Wizards
delivering ease of use features.
Included in the group are Scale
and Offset Wizards to simplify
transducer interfacing, and a
Tuning Wizard. The Tuning Wizard
automates the process of setting
control loop gain parameters.
RMCTools also supports the
customization of sensor feedback
inputs, either for redundancy
purposes, or for widening the
range of input sensitivity or
mathematically pre-processing of
sensor values.
To support the synchronization
of processing operations on the
line, Delta has built-in standard
features such as quadrature
reference to feed chain speeds and
gearing of one axis’ motion to that
of another.
Through use of a programmable
‘Feature Key’, the RMC200 will
enable only the number of control
loops that a customer’s application
needs, and hence Delta can deliver
flexibility while only charging
for the exact functionality that is
required, saving customers money.
Other physical enhancements
include a display screen on the
CPU, I/O modules with push-in
wire connectors and fully-encased,
user-installable/replaceable
modules that ‘rock-in or out’ to
avoid electrical damage while the
RMC200 is powered.
