Komatsu provides a broad range of forestry excavator models designed for road building and land clearing in demanding logging operations .
Komatsu ’ s Forestry Excavators Purpose-built forestry excavator models include the Komatsu PC210LL-10 , PC240LL-10 and PC390LL-10 and feature Komatsu ’ s durable and well established forestry excavator platforms .
Often called swing machines or log loaders , Komatsu ’ s forestry excavators are preferred for handling tough road building duties . They are equipped with rugged high and wide undercarriages , robust long reach equipment , powerful swing torque , impressive Tier IV Interim hp , and optimised hydraulic systems .
These machines perform a broad range of jobs . In fact , each machine model is adaptable to fronts and attachments for forestry work including road building , log loading , shovel logging , or roadside sorting / processing . Loggers can also choose from a variety of Komatsu heavy-duty forestry and excavator booms , and excavator arms to address specific work .
These new ‘ Dash-10 ’ log loaders are purpose-built to withstand the rigors of road building and forestry work . Each model is available with Komatsu ’ s new ROPS / OPS / FOPS / TOPS / WBC / Oregon OHSA certified forestry cab for improved operator comfort including a choice of either a 180 mm ( 7 in ) or 1,220 mm ( 48 in ) cab riser for optimised visibility . All models utilise heavier-duty components from the next larger size Komatsu excavator .
“ Road building is an extremely demanding application and the Komatsu LL-10 Series machines are purpose built for this type of work ,” Steve Yolitz , Manager , Marketing Forestry , Komatsu America Corp , said .
“ We use components from the next larger size excavators in the Dash-10 Forestry Excavators for greater performance , reliability and
durability . “ For road building , simply select your preferred bucket and thumb attachment and you are good to go .”
PC390LL-10 log loader Weighing in at 48.5 t ( 106,920 lb ), the Komatsu PC390LL-10 log loader is powered by a Komatsu SAA6D114E-5 engine with a flywheel horsepower of 257 hp ( 192 kW ) which is EPA Tier IV Interim and EU Stage 3B emissions certified . This engine has 5 % more HP , 7 % greater displacement and provides up to 10 % lower fuel consumption compared to the Tier III engine in the prior PC350LL-8 model .
PC240LL-10 log loader The Komatsu PC240LL-10 weighs in at 38.095 t ( 83,985 lb ). With a flywheel HP of 177 hp ( 132 kW ), it is powered by a Komatsu SAA6D107E-2 engine that is EPA Tier IV Interim and EU Stage 3B emissions certified . It offers 5 % more HP while decreasing fuel consumption by as much as 10 % compared to the former Tier 3 PC220LL-8 model .
PC210LL-10 log loader The PC210LL-10 is Komatsu ’ s newest Dash-10 log loader model and weighs 28.063 t ( 63,852 lb ). It is powered by a 158 flywheel HP ( 118 kW ) Komatsu SAA6D107E-2 engine that is EPA Tier IV Interim and EU Stage 3B emissions certified . This engine has 5 % more hp while providing up to 10 %
lower fuel consumption compared to the Tier III engine in the prior PC200LL-8 model .
Highly efficient hydraulic system Komatsu ’ s integrated hydraulic design has a closed center-load sensing system that uses variable speed matching . Variable matching allows the engine speed to adjust based on the hydraulic pump output for both light and heavy duty applications . Each model has adjustable flow controls for boom , arm , heel and grapple , and other work equipment functions for fine tuning hydraulic response to individual operator .
New Komatsu forestry cab The spacious new forestry cab provides a quieter and more comfortable work environment so operators can maximise their productivity . The operator platform is mounted on viscous damper mounts , which provide low vibration levels . The highback , fully-adjustable seat is air suspended and heated for enhanced all-day comfort .
A new in-cab high-resolution 175 mm ( 7 in ) LCD colour monitor has enhanced capabilities and displays information in 25 languages for global support . The operator can easily select from six working modes to match machine performance to the application . These working modes include Power Mode , Economy Mode , Lifting Mode , Breaker Mode , Attachment Economy Mode and
Attachment Power Mode . An integrated rear-view monitoring system allows the operator to view directly behind the machine .
Convenient maintenance and serviceability Each Komatsu forestry excavator model provides easy service access and is also equipped with the exclusive Komatsu Equipment Management Monitoring System ( EMMS ) advanced diagnostic system . EMMS continuously monitors the excavator ’ s vital systems , track maintenance items , provides advanced troubleshooting tools , reduces diagnostic times , and displays error codes . This greatly simplifies and enhances the monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities of the operators and service technicians .
All Komatsu machines are also equipped with the state-of-the-art KOMTRAX technology , which sends machine operating information to a secure website utilizing wireless technology . The KOMTRAX fleet monitoring system increases machine availability , reduces the risk of machine theft ( compared to machines not KOMTRAX-equipped ), allows for remote diagnosis by the distributor , and provides a wealth of other information to drive business efficiency and productivity .
Forestry Excavator are also covered by Komatsu CARE , a complimentary scheduled maintenance program for three years or 2,000 hours .
