Solo engagements include: performances with Auckland Choral, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Recently, Sarah performed Octavian in the trio from Der Rosenkavalier in concert with“ An Evening with Felicity Lott”. Recent appearances include: alto soloist in Bach’ s Easter and Resurrection Oratorios with the Melbourne Bach Choir, the Messiah for Napier Civic Choir and a solo recital of new art song at the Queensland Conservatorium.
In 2016, Sarah toured China with the Australian International Opera Company, as 3rd Lady in The Magic Flute, performed the role of Mrs Malone in the world premiere of Brass Poppies, a co-production for New Zealand and Auckland Arts Festivals and NZO, she debuted with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs as the Alto soloist in their performance of Israel in Egypt and performed the Haydn Harmoniemesse for Napier Civic Choir. Other appearances include: the Rachmaninov Vespers and the Pergolesi Stabat Mater.
Henry Choo tenor
One of Australia’ s finest lyric coloratura tenors, Henry Choo, achieved an Associate Diploma in Singing and is an alumnus of both the Young Artist Program of Opera Queensland and the Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Development Program of Opera Australia.
He made his career debut in the role of Ernesto( Don Pasquale) for Opera Queensland, and his principal debut with Opera Australia as Italian Singer( Der Rosenkavalier).
Roles for Opera Australia have included Nemorino( L’ elisir D’ amore), Gerald( Lakmé), Nadir( Les pêcheurs de perles), Tamino( The Magic Flute), Don Ottavio( Don Giovanni), Ferrando( Così Fan Tutte), Count Almaviva( Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Lysander( A Midsummer Night’ s Dream), Tebaldo( I Capuleti e i Montecchi), to name but a few.
Roles for other companies have included Cassio( Otello) and Don Ottavio- West Australian Opera, Count Almaviva,- State Opera South Australia, Ferrando- Harbour City Opera, Lord Riccardo Percy( Anna Bolena)- OperaBox, and Martin( The Tender Land)- Lyric Opera of Melbourne, for which he has received a Green Room Award nomination for best male operatic lead.
Henry’ s concert performances include the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra Wellington, Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras and Orchestra Victoria.
Recent concert highlights include the premiere performance of An Australian War Requiem by Christopher Bowen OAM in commemoration of the centenary of WWI, and the premiere of Gordon Hamilton’ s work, The Trillion Souls, with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
