Auckland Choral is delighted to announce its 2017 subscription concert series which promises to exceed the success and enjoyment of 2016 . We are continuing our commitment to showcase New Zealand composers including two young students who are emerging into the field of composition . Their works will be featured in our second concert which is dedicated to those who served and lost their lives in the Battle of Passchendaele . 2017 sees the centenary of this battle where , tragically , a significant number of our service people perished . The concert will not only provide an opportunity to remember with reverence those who served and died but focus our minds through a theme of peace .
In traditional fashion Auckland Choral will continue to bring to its audiences the works of the great masters in concerts 1 and 3 . Our singing members are eagerly looking forward to
preparing and performing these works for your enjoyment . Finally , the 99th consecutive performance of Handel ’ s Messiah will be our usual Christmas contribution and paves the way for the 100th performance in 2018 .
As Chairperson , I take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters – whether they be concert attendees , volunteers , sponsors , funding bodies , soloists or musicians and in fact , any individual , organisation , business or agency that enables Auckland Choral to keep choral music alive for the musical enjoyment and education of Aucklanders and beyond .
