College seems to be a place where
you have more choice about what
you study. I am excited to take classes that
allow me to learn more about myself and the
world.
Receiving my degree will be more
than a piece of a paper; it will
represent all my hard work and the
obstacles I have overcome with the
help of my family and community.

I’m proud of all the adversity I have
overcome. I fought for my dignity,
education, and integration in the
community and now graduating from
college is my goal and dream. I want to show how difficult
backgrounds do not define a
person's abilities or future. I want to
show that my hard work has paid off
and that I am a positive result of my
parents' struggle.

I grew up in the projects where most
people don’t make it out of high
school. Living here motivates me to push
myself to do better and never be satisfied.
Knowledge is key and can open so
many doors. With my degree, I
hope to pursue my dreams of
helping youth achieve their own
education goals and overcome
challenges.

My goals come from working hard
to be the first in my family to go to
college. They have influenced me to
try to succeed in every possible way.
With a degree I will be equipped to
be independent and self-sufficient.
No matter what I end up doing in the
future, education will always open up
doors.
