COASTAL BEND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS AT WORK

CAREER READY WORKFORCE CERTIFICATION

Career Ready Workforce Certification ( CRWC ) continues to impact the overall success of our regional economy since its inception in 2011 . Employers , job seekers , school districts and workforce partners benefit by the four-day dynamic training of 14 “ Essential Skills ” employers so desire accredited by Del Mar College and Coastal Bend College . Participants receive a Certificate of Completion , Continuing Education Units ( CEUs ), a college transcript and alumni membership . Essential skills include such “ soft skills ” as communication skills , leadership / management skills , strong work ethics and teamwork .

David Payne , Event Planner and a Certified Event Rental Professional , was a CRWC graduate of January 2012 . David was hired with Rental World and helped build the family owned business from the ground up . David stated , “ CRWC really helped me and workforce staff were diligent to assist me in landing this job . Within one week of knowing about the job opening , preparing my targeted resume , and landing an interview , the job was mine . I had the opportunity to be Interim Manager for 2 years and I ’ m one of the few employees still employed with Rental World today .”

NONCUSTODIAL PARENT ( NCP ) CHOICES PROGRAM

Over $ 5 Million In Child Support Collections
The Noncustodial Parent ( NCP ) Choices Program is a collaborative effort with the Texas Office of the Attorney General ( OAG ) and IV-D Family Courts to help parents who have substantial barriers to employment and career advancement . This program helps parents become economically self-sufficient while also making consistent child support payments . These parents are court ordered into the program with jail time as the consequence for failure to comply .

Ray Rodriguez , a former NCP Customer , is now an employer hiring NCP Participants ! Mr . Rodriguez states “ the NCP program helps you become a success . I was at a very low point when I was ordered into the program . The NCP Program helped me restart my life with the encouragement and guidance to pursue a career . I am now a manager and have the opportunity to guide my employees to achieve their career goals .” Mr . Rodriguez continues to work with WFSCB to help find qualified technicians through the NCP program . NCP Participants hired receive training and can potentially work up the career ladder with this employer .
