THE PRESIDENT/CEO
Dear Stakeholders,
As we reflect on 2017, we
know that our economy
continues to evolve and the
team
at
Workforce
Solutions of the Coastal
Bend
has
effectively
adapted to meet the
changing needs of employers and job seekers.
The Coastal Bend Region has shown resilience and
resolve in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and the
devastating impact it had on our community. I am
privileged to work with a team that has risen to the
occasion to implement disaster relief initiatives and
activities.
Workforce Solutions quickly deployed mobile disaster
units, taking services directly to those with the greatest
need. Over 8,000 citizens have received Disaster
Unemployment Assistance and are taking advantage of
job seeker assistance, support services and child care.
We continue to work with municipalities, school districts
and humanitarian relief organizations to fill job openings
designed to recover, re-employ and rebuild. Getting our

Region back to work is our role and is central to our
mission at Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend.
The collective and coordinated efforts of our Board of
Directors, Professional Staff and Strategic Partners
establish a strong foundation to accomplish our goals
and serve our customers effectively and efficiently.
Together we are stronger, and I extend my sincere thanks
to all of them. I also extend my appreciation and
gratitude to the Chief Elected Officials Council for their
leadership and efforts in positively impacting so many
families in the Coastal Bend.
We will continue to build on the success of 2017 and are
committed to elevating our strategic partnerships and
presence in 2018 as we invest in our regional economic
success through access to employment, training, child
care, youth and employer services.
