Diverse student body This spirituality extends beyond the school to the larger community. A wide variety of community service learning programs provides ways for students to be active in the larger community, to develop relationships, and to practice their faith. Throughout the school year, you will have opportunities to engage in tutoring and mentoring programs for area youth, in collecting food and supplies for the under-served, in visiting and assisting the elderly, and in both domestic and international summer mission trips. Diversity is a core value at Sai nt Ursula Academy. Historically, the esteem for diversity is rooted in the teachings of St. Angela Merici, whose ideals continue to shape the educational character of the Academy. St. Angela insisted on love and respect for every individual and a responsiveness to the “needs of the times” and people of all social classes, especially those marginalized. The community service program will expose you to issues on a regional, national, and global level and encourage you to reflect on your service work as it connects to your individual gifts, your faith, and your ability to be agents of change. Community Service Learning staff also partner with faculty to integrate service into the classroom. Saint Ursula Academy embraces this imperative for diversity. The Academy’s city-central location attracts diversity in its staff and student body, including different social, racial, religious and economic backgrounds. The student body is ROMAN CATHOLIC. 16 The remaining of our population belongs to other CHRISTIAN, JEWISH, HINDU AND MUSLIM faiths.
