Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon
for women. Individuals and teams compete.
There is also a fun run/walk. The event is
sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Memorial
Hospital Foundation (530-477-9700). The
foundation also has volunteer opportunities.

t can be difficult getting involved in a
new community. So, here are some ideas.
Take a land trust hike, join a garden or
car club, become involved with one of the
many local arts organizations, volunteer to
be a state park docent or take a course at
Sierra College.
For those interested in service and fellow-
ship, western Nevada County has a number
of very active service clubs including Rotary,
Kiwanis, Lions and Soroptimist International.

Make friends while doing something for
your new community. Go to the Center for

for organizations that can always use
