Finding the Perfect Fit
A
s the emphasis on wellness and
healthy living continues, there are
more and more opportunities avail-
able in Nevada County to help us along the
path. They range from community programs
to city parks and recreation departments to
fitness centers, health clubs and the avail-
ability of locally grown food. Here are some
ideas to help you find the perfect fit for all
of your fitness needs.
Training Zone: Pine Creek Shopping
Center, Grass Valley. New to the area, this
medium-sized, full service health club is
located in a redesigned, remodeled 15,000
square foot space. The facility offers over
50 classes, new equipment, child care with
activities, and plans call for an outdoor chil-

Anytime Fitness: Brunswick Basin,
Grass Valley. This store front, family friendly
fitness center is open 24/7. It offers classes,
wellness, and a get started program with
follow-up plan. (530) 652-4680.
South Yuba Club: 130 West Berryhill Dr.,
Grass Valley. A newly renovated club offer-
ing a place for workouts and socializing. It
has a pool, tennis courts, mind/body and
team training rooms, new equipment and a

Fit Culture Studios: 75 Bost Ave.,
Nevada City. Features personalized eating,
exercise and life strategies to fit each unique
individual. Personal and group training ses-
sions are available as are coaching programs.

South Yuba Club: 555 Searls Ave., Neva-
da City. Along with a variety of equipment,
this facility has a swimming pool, group
classes, weight loss program and child care.

Gold Country Community Services:
LOVE Building, Condon Park, Grass Valley.
Organization offers fitness classes for adults
of all ages including line dancing and Tai
Chi. (530) 615-4541.
Grass Valley, it can provide a safe place to
start and find your level of comfort. There
are four groups – walkers, walk/runners,
runners and trail runners. Each has a coach.
Participants also learn about other programs
that will impact their health and wellness.
Sponsored by Trkac Specialty Running
Store, Sierra TrailBlazers, Trkac Racing Team
and Gilligan’s Hillagains, the annual event is
held in the evening.
Another option for those serious about
running is a marathon, half-marathon and
5K program designed to train for specific
races. Sponsored by Trkac Running Store,
sessions are held up to three times a year
with one set for July. They include track
work and long runs two days a week for
10 to 18 weeks.

Get Moving Program
Each spring for the past several years 200
to 250 people show up for Get Moving, a
free, 10-week community training program
designed for everyone from beginner walk-
ers to advanced runners.
Held once a week at Nevada Union High
School’s track located off Ridge Road in
