2017-18 PBC YEARBOOK Men’s Golf USC AIKEN WINS PBC MEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA – With the lowest team total in PBC history, the USC Aiken Pacers won the 2018 Peach Belt Conference Men’s Golf Championship on the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine. The Pacers finished the three rounds with a team score of 850, 14 strokes ahead of their nearest competitor and two strokes better than the 2005 Pacers, who won with a 54- hole record 852 that season. USCA’s Johnson Holliday won the individual medalist after holding off a couple of rally attempts. Holliday finished with a 54-hole total of 208, tied for the second-lowest 54-hole total in tournament history. Columbus State fired all three rounds under 290 to finish in second place at even-par 864. Young Harris was third with Lander fourth and Georgia Southwestern fifth. USC Aiken wins back-to-back tournament titles for the fifth time in program history and now have a PBC-best 12 men’s golf championships. On Sunday, PBC co-Player of the Year Axel Östensson led the Pacer charge with a two-under 70 that included five birdies. He finished in a tie for third at three-under 213. August Lindvall went one-under with a 71 and a 215 total for fifth place while George Eubank finished in a tie for eighth with rounds of 72-73-74=219. Columbus State’s Gideon van der Vyver, shot the low round of the day with a three-under 69 to move into second place with a 54-hole total of 211. Van der Vyver had two eagles on the day along with three birdies. Freshman of the Year Jordan Doull had five birdies on his round Sunday and finished at two-under 70, good for seventh place. Andrew Arft also had five birdies and was one over on his round to tie for eighth. Georgia Southwestern’s Vincent Norrman shot an even-par 72 and finished the tournament at three- under 213 in a tie for third. The top five golfers in the field were named All-Tournament. 51
