Flagler wins
third regional
title
ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College seniors Sara Da-
visand Taja Valmyr were not going to let tonight
be the end of their collegiate volleyball careers.
The two combined for 20 kills as top seeded
Flagler swept No. 2 Wingate University 25-17,
25-9 and 25-23 to claim its third NCAA Division
II Southeast Regional championship (2009 and
2011).
Flagler (27-3) advances to the NCAA Division II
National Championships, which will be held Dec.
7-9 at Pensacola, Florida. The final eight teams
will be seeded and the national quarterfinals will
be announced at a later date. Wingate concluded
the season with a 27-4 record.
