There are many team sports for all ages in the area, including; volleyball, soccer, rugby, curling, hockey, bowling, basketball, ultimate frisbee, gymnastics, cycling and of course, slo-pitch! For those who enjoy a more solitary experience, there are plenty of individual activities available in the area. Runners often use the series of town trails that feature outdoor exercise equipment. Pickleball, cross country skiing, and figure skating (there are indoor and outdoor rinks in Edson and throughout Yellowhead County) are also popular pastimes. Martial arts classes (karate and tae kwon do) are offered in the area as are dance and swimming programs for all ages. Motivated to get fit? There are numerous exercise courses held year around, from spin classes to zumba, yoga, moveball and more! The Edson area is also home to several fitness centres, a great pool at Repsol Place and the Kinsmen splash park for those hot summer days. The skateboard park is also popular with local youth and for those who would like to hit the links, the 18-hole golf course opens in mid-May. Visit www.edson.ca and yellowheadcounty.ab.ca for more information. SP Whether you use sports as a form of exercise, for entertainment, to hone skills or to interact with other people, athletics are a big part of what makes Edson a great place to live and play!
