Foreword
It is with great pleasure that I introduce the first Nord Anglia Education Comic Book! Noting the desire to develop a bespoke competition that reaches our students under the age of eight, the Comic Book Competition was born. We are very proud of the calibre of our students' work and are pleased with their engagement in the competition.
Through the Comic Book Competition, students were invited to challenge their perceptions and understandings of two Global Goals (Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production). This extends Nord Anglia's collaboration with UNICEF and shows our ongoing commitment to growing our students' international mindedness.
Students were asked to think critically about the themes around Goal 11 and Goal 12 and to develop a superhero to combat real world problems associated with them. Their superhero was to spot a problem and take clear steps to solve it. This has enabled some truly imaginative comics to be published in Nord Anglia's first ever digital comic book.
Members of our Nord Anglia family helped judge the comic book entries based on writing skills, creativity and problem solving. They were all very impressed with the depth which students grasped the core issues around the two goals.
As ever, it was inspirational to see students digging deeper, connecting with the Global Goals and producing inspirational pieces. I would like to congratulate all students who entered the Comic Book Competition and look forward to even more entries next year.
