Claire Caldwell, The Poetry Lab
At its best, a poem can seem like a chemical reaction: words shapeshift, images flare
with colour, ideas are distilled into concentrated form. Sometimes there’s even an
explosion or two. Join Berton House Writer-in-Residence Claire Caldwell as she guides
participants through a series of poetic experiments to transform the raw ingredients
of language into bright and bubbling concoctions. Everyone is welcome, from those
who’ve never written a poem to those who’ve written dozens. No test tubes required
— just bring your pen and notebook!
SATURday Only, 1:00 - 5:00
Sierra Megas, Book-binding workshop
This workshop will introduce participants to hand-binding books using the coptic
stitch. Beginning with an overview of bookbinding tools, examples of the finished
bind and a live demonstration of the Coptic stitch, participants will then try the stitch
themselves with hands-on guidance.
