When confronted with a diagnosis of breast cancer it’ s natural to fear the worst. Having someone to chat with is important- someone who can resonate with how you feel but also someone who perhaps has come through and out the other side. Support is vital throughout the process. Despite the complexities of breast cancer and the associated treatment options-sometimes simply knowing others who have faced the diagnosis helps provide a little extra strength.
If you have an experience of breast cancer, your story could encourage and educate many others. With the incidence as high as 1 in 9 women being affected over the course of their lifetime – we need to raise awareness on the importance of good breast health – knowing whats normal today – should an abnormality arise- it will be detected early and the outcome a lot more positive. We need women of all ages to be more breast aware – knowing what to look for and how to perform a self breast examination.
We would love for you to share your experience with us, so that we in turn can share with others. You can contact Samantha at smcgregor @ bciresearch. ie.
