SHORE LUNCH
The Great Canadian Shore Lunch
Eating a fish that you caught just 20 minutes ago is one of the
great pleasures afforded to those who venture to Canada on a
fishing trip. Our cold and crystal clear lakes create a texture and
a taste to the fillet that just can’t be beat. While walleye is the
most popular choice for anglers when it comes to shore lunch,
many other species such as pike, black crappie and trout taste
just as good or better!

There are multiple ways you can prepare a shore lunch though
the traditional Canadian shore lunch fare includes battered fillets
dipped in hot oil, usually prepared over a campfire on a flat
island. Optional sides for your meal include grits, corn, beans
(heated in the can) and some fried sliced potatoes and onions;
the word “mouthwatering” isn’t quite good enough to describe
what it tastes like! Your shore lunch will be prepared by your
guide if you have one or you can do it all by yourself – it just
takes a little practice to get it right!
