How to choose the right
photographer for your
shoot:
There are so many amazing photographers
in the industry today, but choosing the right
one for you takes a bit of research. Make
sure the photos that you are wanting and
the photographer you are going to work with
match.
Photoshoots are expensive. If this is your
first shoot, you may opt for a less expensive
photographer. This is perfectly fine and
a great way to practice, but I absolutely
recommend investing in yourself. If you
admire a certain photographer’s style and
you love the photos they shoot, invest in
yourself. Usually a good photographer
will work in conjunction with one or a few
publications and if they like your look or see
potential in you, they will pass your photos
on with a good reference. They also have a
network of people in the publishing business
and can serve as great teachers, mentors
and friends.
Do your Research! Contact models that have
worked with this photographer previously
(those photos you admire) and ask them for
an honest opinion on the experience they
had. Sometimes a lot of issues may hide
behind a pretty picture. You need to be sure
that whomever you are about to work with
is not known for overpromising and under
delivering and that they are worth your time.
Make sure there are no hidden agenda’s.
The photos you are about to take and pay
for are your photos and should not appear
anywhere that you do not approve of.
